GOP has the best County Committee

Desert Observer's page

"The GOP this week will open its fourth Riverside County Victory 2008 office - this one in Palm Springs - geared at supporting Republican candidates on the federal, state and local levels."

"'Nothing
the Democrats do affects our game plan,' Riverside County GOP chair Bob Richmond said."

The quotes above appeared in The Desert Sun story titled "Local Democrats combine outreach efforts", that discussed some of the productive working-together efforts of the Julie Bornstein for Congress and Manuel Perez for Assembly campaigns. These GOP comments reflect the sad truth that Republicans have a county-wide effort underway in support of their candidates. Four new "Victory 2008" offices and a visible county committee chair! The GOP county committee folks appear to be leading the way for their candidates and you have to admire their productive organizational abilities.

There is no comparable county-wide effort from the Riverside County Democratic Central Committee (RCDCC).  Elected Democratic committee high mucky-mucks are leaving all the hard work up to the candidates and their campaigns. The folks at RCDCC continue to sleep behind the scenes using as their reference an unbroken record of inactivity from years past. Democrats are excited, clubs are spearheading voter registration drives and our candidates have put together some excellent campaign strategies. Democratic candidates deserve better from county-level politicos. They deserve 100% percent support and it needs to start at the top with the officers and members of the RCDCC. If this election is allowed to pass with the county committee once again failing to participate in a meaningful way, then serious consideration needs to be given to the justifications for their continued existence.

Right on! Except for the holding the occasional "training" session and asking clubs to provide ther membership lists, I'm not sure what the RCDCC does. I think our newly elected members of the Committee should place this statement on the next meeting agenda.
