Beschloss and Kelly: Still Friends!

The regular Friday offering from the Desert Today morning program on radio station KPSI Newstalk 920 has host Steve Kelly discussing economic and political issues with guest Morris Beschloss. In a blog last Friday titled Beschloss and Kelly: Kindred Spirits? I reviewed portions of that morning's program content with particular emphasis on the guest's performance. Progressive issues and candidates, and the Obama administration had been roundly criticized - "bashed" may be a more apt description - by Beschloss. The blog pointed out that if the desired effect was to warm up the radio audience for the Rush Limbaugh program that followed in the next hour, an acceptable job had been done.

The blog also discussed Morris Beschloss's vocabulary of strong words and phrases that occasionally sprinkle his on-air remarks. They most often are heard during his comments when referring to Democrats, progressive issues and similar subjects he clearly dislikes. He has used such terms as "Nazi", "self loathing Jew", and "toady" to describe progressive policies, former president Bill Clinton, and Democratic financier George Soros.

During the second half of today's program Beschloss wanted to discuss the content of the
Beschloss and Kelly: Kindred Spirits? blog but host Steve Kelly tried to head him off. Beschloss was obviously upset and his remarks made it appear he may have  missed the point of the blog. He seemed to think it was intended to question his friendship with Kelly. The major points made in the blog were his use of inappropriate and derogatory language on the air when discussing others, and his failure to exercise the same degree of discretion and restraint when speaking on air that he shows in his more circumspect print offerings.

Near the end of the program Beschloss managed to pull another epithet from his lexicon when discussing the
Beschloss and Kelly: Kindred Spirits? blog. He felt it important to express his dislike for the blog's author (whom he's never met) by referring to the author as "that idiot". So, for those keeping score of memorable Beschloss abusive words or phrases, add "idiot" (or "that idiot") to "Nazi", "toady", and "self loathing Jew", on the list.
