Beschloss and Kelly: Dissent Not Welcome!

Palm Springs, CA. - The Friday morning Desert Today program on radio station KPSI continues to be a forum in which co-hosts Morris Beschloss and Steve Kelly consistently satisfy the listening needs of those on the political right. Beschloss, who is noted for his airtime colorful epithets showed little of that proclivity in today's (November 19th) episode. "Damn" was the only word used that might be considered by some as vulgar. The program is rated as episodic because the content is a predictable continuation of each week's unscripted, rambling, long-winded Beschloss pronouncements on any and all subjects that may pop up on the broadcasting table.

The program's tedious content was interrupted by a call from listener Jay in Palm Springs. He voiced disagreement with Beschloss and expressed the views (paraphrased here) that wars should be supported by taxes and that has not been the case with the Bush Iraq and Afghanistan adventures. Jay also said the Bush tax cuts for those making more than $250M should be continued to help pay for the wars.

Beschloss became angry, interrupted the caller, used a louder voice level to drown out the caller's voice and then responded by accusing caller Jay in Palm Springs of engaging in "class warfare". Beschloss said he would not discuss such issues with the caller. Steve Kelly responded by acknowledging that Beschloss had stated he no longer wished to continue the discussion, and the caller was disconnected.

In year's past Steve Kelly appeared proud to host one of the three daily hours of non-conservative "Talk Radio" sessions on KPSI. It's become rather clear his one hour program no longer qualifies in that category. This morning's program also confirms that callers should not expect to be treated with the same degree of accommodation and respect as that accorded to callers with confirming opinions. Last week an absent caller was labeled "that idiot" and this week a reasonable and politely dissenting caller was cut off. The weekly Beschloss and Kelly program definitely has morphed into an unfriendly forum for any who disagree with the sounds coming from the broadcasting booth.

I am positive that Beshloss , on the radio, made the analogy that the election of Obama was similar to the election of Hitler. I heard it and couldn't believe it. Obama is Hitler , Bechloss is built up as some academic type when he uses big talk but does little more than those you paint a Hitler moustache on Obama posters and shirts. The Bechloss media campaign is an outrage. Disgusting. As or those who support his bigotry and arrogance such as www.MyDesert.com who gives him a blog/column and that radio show that is little more than a Limbaugh ripoff, hate show.
