Invisible Palm Springs City Officials
The January 2nd Sunday edition of The Desert Sun newspaper's Opinion Page included a question that had been presented to Coachella Valley community leaders. That question asked the following sentence be completed.
Leaders' names on the list included several with Palm Springs affiliations. Wessman Development's Michael Braun, Save Our Mountains chairman Jono Hildner, and Palm Springs Lincoln Club's Jim Stuart all made the cut. The entire roster of Palm Springs' officialdom failed to make the cut and the oft mentioned "invisibility" attributed to some appears to now cloak the entire bunch.
Palm Springs City Manager David Ready - no response printed in the list. Mayor Steve Pougnet - not there either. Palm Springs city council members Ginny Foat, Rick Hutcheson, Chris Mills and Lee Weigel? Nope - didn't make the cut either.
Am I missing something here? Why would The Desert Sun print a list of responses from over fifty community leaders and completely omit officials from Palm Springs? Did city officials respond and their offerings found unworthy? Were they on the list of those asked to provide responses? Should this be seen as The Desert Sun editorial staff's opening salvo in the upcoming Palm Springs city council elections?
