New Executive Editor to fill slot at The Desert Sun
Palm Springs, California. According to a brief post on Gannett Blog a new Executive Editor has been named to fill the vacant slot in Palm Springs at The Desert Sun newspaper. His name is Greg Burton and currently serves as Assistant Managing Editor of the Gannett Empire's News Journal in Wilmington. Desert Sun publisher Mark Winkler reportedly broke the news to his staff earlier this morning and stated Burton will start work on April 11th.
Burton replaces former Executive Editor Rick Green who was reassigned in January to a position with The Des Moines Register.
The Gannett Blog bills itself as "An independent daily journal about the Gannett Corporation, Inc." Among comments on the blog responding to the post, one from anonymous stated "I've worked for Greg for a few years now. He is fair and works hard. Palm Springs is getting one of the good ones."
